Christian Willisohn, born in 1962 in Munich, is a most remarkable piano blues and boogie virtuoso. Uncountable club appearances, numerous festivals ( such as Montreux, Ascona, Nyon, Burghausen, New Orleans, Chicago) exposed him to a steadily growing audience of piano music fans. His work with such blues artists as Zora Young, Aron Burton, Memphis Slim, Lillian Boutt‚, Louisiana Red, Vince Weber enhanced his reputation in Europe and The United States.Christian Willisohn plays honest music. His early inspirations were Meade Lux Lewis, Albert Ammons, Jimmy Yancey, Kansas-City styled Pete Johnson. He is also stretching out into the music of the great Harlem stride pianists, like Fats Waller and Willie "The Lion" Smith. Christian is not copying his idols; his energy is pointed towards the mood of a piece, the spirit and the flow of the music - this way connecting with it and developing his own identity. After having recorded with other blues artists, Boogie Woogie And Some Blues is the debut album under his own name.
